Hi, I’m Margrethe.

I am a professional visual artist based in Brooklyn, specializing in painting, drawing, and sculpture within an abstract language. Born and raised on the southwest coast of Norway, and living and working between Norway and New York City since 2012. I have been exhibiting my work both in the U.S. and internationally. My current studio is located in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

In addition to my work as an artist, I have spent many years as an independent Teaching Artist, primarily in Norway, working with both young people and art college students. Since spring 2025 I have been expanding this rewarding role to New York City:

I offer mentorship and creative guidance to adults seeking to embark on their own artistic paths and personal growth.

My classes are personalized, one-on-one sessions in the comfort of your home or any other location for your preference, as well as group workshops.

If you have any questions, please get in touch.

My Approach

Creativity in all forms—visual art, music, writing, performance, and more—has proven mental and emotional benefits. The act of creating fosters a deeper connection with ourselves and the world around us.

However, many people stop expressing themselves creatively as they leave childhood and adolescence, losing a vital source of fulfillment. This loss is both personal and universal, but it’s never too late to reclaim it.

My goal is to inspire and guide you in reconnecting with your creativity through foundational visual arts techniques, using simple materials like paper, pastels, and water-based colors. By engaging with both your own work and the art of others, you can rediscover the joy of making. Don’t miss the chance to find your inspiration!
